Bloom's Take Priced between the budget-friendly Sundara and the flagship Arya, it’s easy to feel bad for ‘ole Ananda which seemed like it was getting squeezed out without a clear identity in the HFM lineup. But with a facelift, a slight adjustment to the fit, a tweak to the tuning and efficiency, and a new hard-molded carry case, the new Ananda NANO seems to fully realize its place in the roster. It’s the most natural sounding version of Ananda we’ve gotten yet with extra punch in the bass (a noteworthy distinction) and a slight but focused deviation from high end brightness to mids, so it lands just outside of the typical HiFiMAN house sound. It’s also worth mentioning that we got substantial slam from a simple dongle DAC but were rewarded with significant sonic excellence when we fed the NANO some juice, highlighting its sensitivity but also high ceiling. Our favorite portable pairing in our tests was with the iBasso DX170 DAP, singing sweet songs over the 4.4mm balanced. |

The Power of Stealth
Traditional magnets generate sound waves that can introduce interference. The special shape of HiFiMAN's Stealth Magnets enable the waves to pass through without interference. This design is acoustically transparent minimizing the degradation of the sound waves and lowering distortion to produce accurate sonic output.
Nanometer Thickness Diaphragm Based on SUSVARA
Why do planar magnetic headphones often sound better than traditional dynamic headphones? Since the conductor layer (voice coil) on the diaphragm of the planar is evenly distributed on the surface of the diaphragm, the electromagnetic force that drives the diaphragm to vibrate and produce sound acts much more uniformly than the voice coil acts on the surface of the cone-type diaphragm on a dynamic headphone. Ultimately, the phase distortion is lower, and the spatial information of sound reproduction suffers less loss than dynamic headphones, while providing a much larger sound stage and better positioning.
The result: ANANDA NANO has a wide frequency range: 5Hz to 55kHz. The 3-dimensional sound field wraps around the listener's ears, with the positioning and imaging of musical instruments precisely located, like listening to a live performance.
