Our Take
LCD-5 is a big step forward for Audeze on a number of fronts. It’s lighter and more comfortable than its predecessors along with having a smooth, sleek visual design. From a technical standpoint, it’s more efficient, opening up more options for enjoying flagship level sound quality, and it’s tuned to provide a more refined take on the classic Audeze sound with incredible depth and transparency. Basically, LCD-5 is a masterclass on evolving a beloved flagship product: Audeze maintained its core values while taking its design and performance to the next level.

The LCD-5 sets a new standard for accuracy using a new driver design with Audeze’s own patent-pending Parallel Uniforce voice coils and new magnet assembly. LCD-5 represents a completely new design made specifically for minimal reflections, improved frequency response, and a more open yet accurate soundstage.

LCD-5’s impedance is 14 Ohms, sensitivity is 90dB, and it weighs just 420 grams (1/3 less than the LCD-4!). Handcrafted in California, USA, the LCD-5 has been meticulously engineered to provide unmatched audio for industry professionals and audiophiles alike. 

The LCD-5 features Audeze’s patented core technologies, and comes with new acoustically designed leather earpads, an improved and luxurious carbon fiber suspension headband, deep “tortoise shell” acetate rings, all-new magnesium housing, plus our latest premium audio cable made with high-purity copper, and an aluminum travel case.

Transparency, Resolution, and Speed

The LCD-5 sets a new standard for accuracy. Its drivers are engineered with our award-winning Fluxor magnets and updated Fazor waveguides along with our new Patent-pending Parallel Uniforce™ voice coils, which employ varying width parallel traces to keep the impedance low and provide increased voltage headroom by altering the current density within each trace. The uniform force created by this optimization lowers distortion and provides better control over diaphragm movement, resulting in improved sonic resolution.

    LCD-5 The gap between analog and digital sound comes to an end

    No one can justify LCD-5 with some adjectives or try to explain the performance, quality, or the experience you feel of the sound that it produces. LCD-5 has opened a brand new dimension in sound and listening experience that I feel has never been achieved before.

    Let me start with. A parent can't explain what it's like to have a child especially the day of birth to some who don't have a child, just as much as no one can explain to a person who is blind at birth what the sky looks like or it's color.

    When you listen to a street performer you don't say or think wow that violin or guitar sounds so realistic. You hear the analog sound waves that come from the strings that move the air in the instrument and as a result, your brain makes sense of it and creates a distinct memory of that sound. You get to trigger that exactly with LCD-5. Any kind of sound or music with LCD-5, you hear and it hits your memory feels real life. You don't think as in "wow this headphone sounds excellent or amazing" all of that disappears. In the beginning, your brain tries to understand, what you are hearing. It feels like a slight natural confusion and it happens on an unconscious level as your brain tries to distinguish. Is it coming from a player, or is this real life? It is an immaculate and very different experience. This is the same for any sound effects, musical instruments, or vocals.

    You see any flagship headphones can sound excellent, natural, or transparent which lets them get close to sounding real.
    LCD-5 closes the gap between analog and digital sound completely by 99.999% you hear as much detail, separation, and imaging exactly as if you were there when the sound effect or the music was being produced with unimaginable accuracy. Happy listening.
