I've tried many headphone amps. I have wasted thousands of dollars buying and selling them while trying to satisfy my unreasonably high expectations. I honestly feel that most people will end their search here. This amp has unbelievable detail but it will never wear you down like some amps do. I would have to say the two main standouts for me are the power output, and the ability to change it's sound. For instance, I've had substantially more powerful amps that couldn't drive the original Susvara as good as this one can. It's all business. I never feel like I need more power and I'm a very loud listener. Also, the ability to change it's sound it so valuable. I'm going to purchase the V7 Classic op amps and compare them to the V7 Vivid that I have currently. I like my amp a touch warm because I listen to Hifiman headphones which are somewhat lean at times. You can make this amp sound the way that you want. And it plays very nicely with any DAC or headphone that I try. That's also very valuable. Lastly, Bloom were very nice to me, they had the best price, and the shipping speed was exceptional. If you've bonuced around with many amps like I have, I believe that you can end your search today.
So far I am really liking the Voyager amp. Comparing it to the Holo Bliss(paired with LAIV Harmony DAC), I feel like there is more transparency and details which are somewhat veiled on the Bliss. Both amps posses a very weighty and refined sound but the imaging and resolution of the Voyager is a step above the Bliss. Micro dynamics and slam is in your face while the bliss feels more relaxed and smooth which is also great depending on the mood.
Overall both amps are fantastic but to me, the clear winner here is the Voyager. It became apparent after a couple of hours of going back and forth on both amps. The real bonus here for me is the Voyager's power and ability to drive more demanding headphones. I often find myself pushing the Bliss's volume pot way too close to its maximum which I do not like to do on any amp so the overhead provided by the Voyager is simply fantastic. Both amps also run pretty hot after a while but nothing to be concerned about.
Lastly, and this has nothing to do with the review of the amp, but it took DHL 3 days to process this shipment through customs coming into Canada and I had to fill out a form giving more details about the product as what Bloom Audio provided apparently was not enough.. again, not sure what happened here but I will cross this off as a one off.. I've ordered from Bloom before and have not had any customs issues prior to this. I ordered this on Oct. 22nd and received it on Oct. 30th.. I won't deduct a star for this but I am hoping Bloom looks into their paperwork and ensure the proper descriptions and necessary paperwork is provided for cross border shipments.
Well the price was eye-watering but after buying their mono blocks I knew this guy would take over my system. Aside from the incomparable CLASS A 10 W sound, it has so many Ins and Outs that on the Mothership, I was able to mount my entire hifi there and connect my Cayin CD player, my Topping DX-9 Dac, preamp it to my monoblocks that power my HECO Cyclone 9 speakers, to my NAIM amp that powers my KEF Metas, and to a powerful CHORD ANNI headphone amp. Wow and a handful of more portable tube dacs and amps. Audio madness but the Mothership 4 really helps. And it gives a separate Subwoofer out to the SVS 3000 SB. Insane sound.
First time listening to Burson Audio's amplifer but I'm definitely loving it and going to enjoy it for a long time!
Also, I have to address that Bloom Audio's service is prompt and nice. I would like to appreciate their help once again and would like to recommend who haven't experience yet.
