Bloom's Take

For quite some time, Supernova has been the hobby’s best kept secret. Until now, folks who recognized the attention Supernova was getting across different forums and some more public reviews had to jump through a few hoops to acquire this IEM made from 7th Acoustics, a micro brand from Indonesia. Now, entering the western market through Bloom Audio, we are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to present this IEM to the rest of the industry.

While Supernova has come from humble beginnings, one listen to its sound signature, and you will soon understand the massive hype circulating around this IEM. To get a better idea of Supernova and the core motivation behind it, we were able to sit down at CanJam Singapore with Stephen Synanta, founder of 7th Acoustics and lead engineer of Supernova.

Supernova looks to deliver an incredibly balanced and extended sonic profile that's backed by balanced armature drivers from none other than Knowles and Sonion, a world class manufacturer in their respective field. In using these drivers, Supernova is both equally resolving as it is fun, and keeps tonality at the forefront of its sound signature.

Although 7th Acoustics and Supernova have flown under the radar for quite some time, the cat is out of the bag, and Supernova is ready to deliver its incredibly lush and smooth sonic profile to every listener ready to give them a go.

Breathtaking

The Supernova immediately impressed me. The tonality on this set is unmatched. Such natural timbre and wonderful treble air. Just started listening but I’m already hooked. And the IEMs themselves are stunning with their bespoke Abalone faceplates. Build quality seems sturdy and the form factor is nice and comfortable.

As far as Bloom, you guys rock. It’s easy to tell you guys really care about your customers and what you do. Caleb was very helpful and kind. And Steven packed the IEMs securely and with care, and got it out the door and to my house with two days. Two days - that’s crazy! An awesome experience with super passionate people. Can’t recommend them enough. This is the place to order for sure. Thank you!

The most realistic

Many people note the perfectly implemented midrange, but for me the Supernova is more than just the king of the midrange, it is so balanced throughout the range that it allows it to convey any musical genre very realistically. Yes, perhaps not with maximum detail, but with such realism that I have not encountered in other headphones, while I had THIEAUDIO Monarch MKII, 64 Audio U12t, Sennheiser IE600, Campfire Audio Andromeda and many others

Purple like a Supernova

Amazingly competent set for the price. This thing lives up to all the hype it receives and so does Bloom, who got it to me fast as they usually do. Looking for some new hype guys, I'll be talking to you soon haha. Thanks for selling me this awesome Open Box Violet Supernova, it looked practically untouched and looked as described, with the person who ordered only about a day or two, and it looks brand spanking new, and the fast delivery was just the icing on the cake. 2 for 2 fellas between this and my MEME Scarlet Mini hehe, and even that thing sounds amazing. 👏

Midrange magic!

The Supernovas are most definitely a vocal forward IEM with outstanding midrange clarity, so smooth the sound is almost liquid, with great presence and natural timbre. Bass is also present, in accurate and pleasing quantity, but the BA driver lacks the bite, slam and physicality of a DD. Treble is again smooth, accurate, with plenty of detail yet never harsh or sibilant, but the star and focus of these IEMs are the midrange & vocals, and it presents them superlatively.

Physically the Supernovas are compact, lightweight, very comfortable in ear, and drop dead gorgeous to look at. The case and cable are also first class.

While not inexpensive to say the least if midrange & vocals are your thing these may very well be your end game TOTL set.
