The iFi iDSD Valkyrie is a powerful balanced USB and Bluetooth ultra-res DAC and headphone amplifier. DSD Remastering
The iDSD Valkyrie is designed intently for those wanting to sculpt the feel and emotion of their music to exactly how they envision it. Inspired by the artistry of mastering engineers, it features iFi's bespoke DSD1024 Remastering algorithm, powered by a custom-coded FPGA.
Similar to the technology used in Sony’s mastering studios, DSD Remastering transforms any file by increasing resolution and reducing distortion – delivering sound that rivals a professionally remastered recording.
K2 and K2HD Modes
Developed at Victor Studios, this technology restores emotion to digital audio. JVCKENWOOD engineers refined K2 using thousands of masters, relying on human expertise. Once exclusive, it now powers the Valkyrie at the press of a button.
The Valkyrie incorporates two modes: ‘K2’ mode and ‘K2HD’ mode. K2HD optionally upscales audio files to 192kHz/24-bit before applying selected K2 parameters for precise waveform shaping. It extends high frequencies to restore natural harmonics, achieving sound quality close to the original master.
For those who prefer restoration without changing the sample rate, K2 mode provides a similar effect while preserving the file’s original resolution.
Quad-DAC Architecture
At the heart of the Valkyrie are four Burr-Brown DSD1793 DACs in a hybrid multi-bit configuration, drawing inspiration from iFi's long-standing experience with the legendary multi-bit Philips TDA1541A.
First introduced in the Pro iDSD, this interleaved design captures the magic and impact of the iconic multi-bit chipset, but with superior low-level linearity for breathtaking detail.
