From Campfire Audio
The latest from the acoustics team at Campfire Audio, Astrolith represents the tip-of-the-spear for IEMs using a pure planar magnetic architecture. Further expanding on Campfire’s lineage of planar earphones, Astrolith incorporates two new drivers wrapped in their PPR and AAOI tuning elements. Combining the inherent advantages of planar magnetic drivers with decades of acoustic engineering experiences brings about an incredible new horizon in the realm of planar magnetic IEMs.
Advanced Acoustic Engineering
Campfire Audio designed several unique and new acoustic technologies specific for Astrolith's miniature Planar Magnetic drivers. The 6mm Planar Magnetic tweeter was a very special challenge for the CFA engineering team. While producing amazing output and raw signal, the refinements needed to meet the team's specification meant engineering new mating acoustic parts from the ground up.
The Particle Phase Resonator (PPR) was developed to phase and frequency correct all elements of the 6mm tweeters output. Without the PPR, the use of the 6mm would not have been possible.
Astrolith: An Experience Like No Other
The highlights of the Astrolith come from the inherent nature of Planar Magnetic design as highlighted above, coupled with the subtle delicate technology and tuning from the Campfire acoustic engineers. This means the ultimate in speed and accuracy without being overly harsh, cupped or fatiguing, and the ultimate in imaging, separation, decay, detail and accuracy. The Astrolith also excels in superior dynamic range, from subsonic subtle 5Hz lows to amazing flat ultra high frequency reproduction.
Components
Shell. In style, Astrolith’s shell is truly unique with the addition of its optically inclusive internal chambers within a transparent exterior. This creates a unique, gem-like effect, allowing for a changing perspective and internal visibility from various angles, appearing sleek and black at a distance, but revealing light and structure from within.
Astrolith is capped with a high-grade, mirror-finish, stainless steel lid with a sleek new ‘terraced’ design. This piece is made from a full CNC billet process and polished by hand.
Drivers. Astrolith combines a 14.2mm planar magnetic main driver that ranges from sub-bass to mid frequencies which uses a crossover-less design to bring in Campfire's 6mm planar true high-frequency tweeter.
This captures a full-range, dual-planar design that highlights the purity of the speed, accuracy, impact, and ultimate resolution that only a planar magnetic driver can deliver.
This approach creates top-to-bottom, intricate resolution, texture and impact alongside incredible high-frequency extension.
