Portable R2R

The DC-Tonfa introduces a true 24-bit, 8-channel fully differential R2R architecture, engineered to reproduce music with unmatched analog realism. The foundation is laid by a staggering 312 ultra-low temperature drift Viking metal film resistors, delivering exceptional detail and reducing zero-crossing distortion to an absolute minimum. This fully-balanced R2R network ensures a crystal clear sound performance with a rich, organic tone, and next-level clarity.

FPGA Control System

The signal accuracy and timing with the advanced 8-channel fully-balanced R2R architecture are precisely managed by iBasso’s proprietary FPGA algorithms. It works dynamically alongside dual Accusilicon femtosecond crystal oscillators to provide a clean, jitter-free sound presentation. The DC-Tonfa supports dedicated NOS mode and has 4 custom digital filters as well.

Amplification Stage

iBasso built its legacy on premium portable players, and they have poured that expertise directly into the amplification circuit of the DC-Tonfa. It houses an aggressive player-grade architecture featuring 2 high-performance Texas Instruments dual OP-AMPs and 4 BUF634A buffers.

This complex OPAMP design produces a strong output, reaching up to 800mW per channel at 32Ω impedance loads. With such a strong output, the iBasso DC-Tonfa works seamlessly with demanding IEMs and Headphones. It offers supreme bass control, excellent midrange coherency, and clean treble extensions with a powerful amplification section.

Ultra-Low Noise

iBasso DC-Tonfa actively minimizes unwanted electrical noise by utilizing Linear Technology’s flagship LT3042 ultra-low noise LDO regulator. Delivering power that is cleaner than most battery-operated devices with a noise floor as low as 0.8μV, it allows the complex R2R configuration to blend the frequency bands with a pristine, jet-black background.

Multi-Device Compatibility

iBasso DC-Tonfa is a versatile device which you can use with a wide range of devices with its dedicated UAC1.0 and UAC2.0 modes. It seamlessly integrates well with Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS, and gaming devices that require UAC1.0 mode specifically. The 3.5mm output also supports digital optical SPDIF output.
