XTM Complex Technology Frequency-Crossover Architecture

Meteor is a remarkable multi-driver tribrid IEM that incorporates innovative technology and design. This earphone features a high-quality driver configuration with one bass driver, two mid-range balanced armatures, and four treble planar drivers.

The XTM complex technology series employs a sophisticated frequency crossover architecture that successfully accommodates seven drivers within the Meteor. Notably, it includes an oversized bass dynamic driver, enhancing the overall audio experience.

13mm Bass Dynamic Driver

The uniquely designed multi-driver frequency crossover acoustic structure allows the innovative placement of the 13mm oversized bass dynamic driver.

This driver, equipped with an N52 neodymium magnet and a composite dome diaphragm, delivers an ultra-large dynamic range and significantly lower distortion compared to traditional arrangements of balanced armatures and miniature dynamic drivers.

Additionally, the Meteor features a meteorite panel embedded in the back cavity of the bass dynamic driver. This panel acts as a vibration damper, integrating the ancient influence of meteorites, which have formed over billions of years, into the sound cavity, further improving the audio experience.

Miniature Treble Planar Drivers

The Meteor features four advanced miniature planar magnetic treble drivers on each side, offering manufacturing precision comparable to balanced armatures. However, these innovative drivers overcome the limitations of narrow bandwidth and high odd-harmonic distortion often associated with balanced armature designs, delivering smoother, more detailed treble.

The Meteor's four miniature planar magnetic drivers deliver lower distortion, more detail and smoother treble than equivalent balanced armatures, and are easier to drive than earphones with electrostatic drivers.

Customized Dual Balanced Armatures

The customized mids composite dual balanced armatures are designed to deliver exceptional sound quality and a dynamic fullness that perfectly fits the Target. This is achieved through a specially designed acoustic nozzle, damper configuration, and frequency crossover circuit, resulting in a natural and open timbre with enhanced treble and bass performance.

Passive Acoustic Notch Filter

A precise passive notch filter structure is created by combining metal components with 3D-printed front cavity technology within the acoustic nozzle path of the dynamic driver. This configuration effectively eliminates fluctuations caused by the resonance of the dynamic driver at 4.7 kHz and 7.2 kHz, thereby producing a purer and smoother sound.

3D-Printed Design

The XTM load technology features a complex and highly accurate frequency crossover structure, which presents significant challenges for maintaining process accuracy and reliability in 3D printing.

After several years of in-depth cooperation, Moondrop has established a long-term strategic relationship with HeyGears, a leading 3D printing supplier. By upgrading and improving its high-precision DLP-3D printing technology and equipment, they are constantly adapting to the increasingly stringent requirements of manufacturing accuracy and stability, thus making possible high-volume production of the complex structure.
