Moondrop Horizon leverages cutting-edge technology, a completely new structural design, and high energy conversion efficiency that surpasses its predecessors. 

Unlike planar headphones, the Horizon utilizes a dynamic driver that achieves higher efficiency through systematic engineering, thereby reducing the driving threshold. Its lightweight design enhances the listening experience, allowing users to enjoy hi-res, low-distortion sound quality across a broad range of use cases.

50mm ULT Dynamic Driver

After two years of meticulous research and refinement, Moondrop’s 50mm ULT dynamic driver, featured in the Horizon, delivers enhanced dynamic range, lower distortion, and extended bandwidth. Utilizing dual N55 neodymium magnet arrays with a natural flux density exceeding 1.6T, the driver offers precise control over diaphragm movement, resulting in cleaner transients and a remarkably effortless, articulate sound.

Titanium-Plated PEN Dome + Double Layer  Liquid Silica Gel Suspension Diaphragm

Achieving treble extension in large-diameter drivers requires a delicate balance of rigidity and damping. PEN, a material favored in high-end dynamic drivers, offers an ideal combination of both. Titanium surface plating further boosts acoustic velocity while minimizing split resonances. Unlike conventional approaches, the Horizon’s liquid silica gel suspension is formed through precision direct-injection molding of ultra-thin materials, offering greater reliability and control at higher amplitudes.

Newly Designed Inclined Driver

To create a wider soundstage and ensure optimal auricle coupling, Horizon features a new inclined driver design. Inside the cups, the driver sits at an intentional angle to better align with your ears’ natural shape. This design helps sound waves reach your ear from the front at a more realistic angle, creating a wider and more immersive soundstage with natural diffusion and better timbre.

Relaxed Tuning

The Horizon’s frequency response follows Moondrop’s VDSF target, with a relaxed and even-handed tuning. The sub-bass reaches down to 80Hz free-field, rare for an open dynamic driver. Highs are smooth and detailed, and the mids remain uncolored. Harmonic distortion sits below 0.1% at 1kHz, so fine details in your music come through without harshness or smearing.
