I'm going to compare these Alba's briefly with a pair of FIIO FH11's because it's all I have. I'm listening to the song I'm Not the One by The Cars off their 'Shake it Up' album in Hi-res lossless with a Questyle M15i. This song has what sounds like a high hat (probably synth) that starts at the very beginning of the song and goes to the end. At one point near the beginning of the song there's a small triangle that's hit once. I can't hear these details very well with the Meze Alba but I can with the FIIO FH11. Cymbals sound too far away with the Alba on this song. It's a cool song to listen to because of the way the instruments are separated. When you hear the difference it's rather substantial. I'd say I just can't hear that frequency and I know there's quite a few that I can't, but I can hear it with the FIIO. The lead singers (Ric) voice sounds slightly more pronounced or forward with the Alba which I enjoy. I like the lead guitar more with the Alba, again a little more forward. Nice midrange. I'm not a bass guy. I like bass the instrument, not the vibration. It's tight and not flabby. If I could add the top end detail and sparkle from this pair of FIIO's, I'd be good. I'm not sure how I find that. I'm not sure what that looks like or where it would fall on a graph. Regardless, I like the Meze Alba. I wish it did more but there's a tradeoff with every choice.
All I can say is, this can play anything much more smoother than some of the it's competitors
These sound very good with a comfy fit. Supplied dongle sounds good too. I am using an ibasso DC04pro that sounds a bit better and am very happy with the sound. The cable sonically is fine and fits the Alba well but gets tangled easily.
Very pleased with my purchase and Bloom is the best.
So I'm very new (6 months) to using IEM's and by no means capable of providing the kind of nuances that I've enjoyed from more seasoned reviewers. I've relied heavily on other's interpretations of various IEM's which I've purchased. With that said, using the Alba with my Fiio M21 DAP, I've been enjoying the soundscape it presents. I've been switching between the Fiio player and Poweramp player on the M21, using the default EQ settings. I think Poweramp makes the Alba sound cleaner, while the Fiio player makes the Alba sound louder. I gave the Alba 4 stars because 5 would mean perfection and I still need to try different tips before I declare it that. I believe it's inline with the reviews I've watched, but ymmv.
The Meze Audio Alba is an impressive entry-level IEM that feels very premium. Sound-wise, it’s warm-neutral with clear mids, punchy but controlled bass, and smooth, fatigue-free treble. Overall, the Alba offers refined sound, premium build, and great value — a perfect everyday IEM for those who appreciate balanced, enjoyable tuning without breaking the bank.
