I don't listen to measurements. Reviews are subjective! The Empire Ears Legend Evo is an experience! I can feel the music in my soul when listening to the Empire Ears Legend Evo. Easily the most visceral bass I have ever experienced from an IEM or Headphone. The presentation of music is deeply engaging and fun to listen to for hours on end. I listen with my DX300 AMP11 Mk1, or my TEAC UD-505. Pure bliss for my listening habits!
Where to start? I have listened to IEMs since 2005 when I discovered the SE215 and paired it with an iPod. More recently I purchased balanced armature-only MoonDrop S8s and while I love them, they convince me that no BA-only will ever have the body or nuance of a hybrid or dynamic driver monitor. I bought the SE846 on that basis but something there too was lacking. The SE846 just wasn't fun. On further research, I found the Legend X and the EVO. I was concerned the EVO was going to be gimmicky in its ear conduction. Perhaps it offered little over the Legend X? I also had concerns about bass painting over higher frequencies in the spectrum. I was mistaken on both counts I found as soon as I put them on. The soundstage is more expansive and the resolution finer than any previous IEM I'd owned. I can make out lyrics I cound not before. I can go across the stage and precisely identify who and what instruments are where. Whether Peter Gabriel's
largely bass-less track Solsbury Hill or bass-heavy extreme metal or anything in between, with all tracks the EVO always strikes a balance. It is not a clinical or neutral monitor. But there is nothing wrong with that. I opted for the open-box and have no regrets. Everything was in perfect condition, indistinguishable from new. If you choose these I can't imagine you'll be anything but very pleased. They put a wide smile on my face.
Wow. My husband has been letting me use these for the last few weeks and I am absolutely blown away. I never knew that anything could sound like this. I’m not just talking about music. I usually just listen to audiobooks. Those even sound amazing!!! But when I connect to our Roon system and start listening to some tunes, I start to get chills down my spines. I had to take them off the first time because it was too much. I’m not an audiophile so it was too much at first. I can assure you that if you are used to hifi stuff like my other half then these things are paranormal.
Absolutely the best IEM's I've owned. Yes, they have great lows but they also have a good mid and high range. The bass never seems to bleed into any other ranges. These are also the 1st IEM's where I prefer the stock cables to any of my other effects audio ones. Everything just works!
Music blazes out of the Legends EVO with amazing color and force, as if all barriers or veils have been removed. It's an exhilarating ride. Yes, the bass is big and sumptuous, but this is not strictly a basshead sound. Mids and trebles are also forcefully represented, creating a full but balanced sonic picture. This is an IEM that makes you wonder if sound reproduction can get any better. Truly legendary performance.
