Extremely fast, exactly as described.

I couldn't find a way to edit my previous review, so I'm doing it this way.

As the IEMs have broken in, I find that the M20 APEX modules are making the U12Ti sound a bit recessed and thin. I've since moved back to the M15 modules, the same as my preference on the U4s and Volür IEMs.

That said, I am still absolutely loving this. The sound quality is on par with the best in my collection and the comfort is absolutely at the top.

While I have a few IEMs from other manufacturers, I love the 64 Audio design philosophy: low profile, flexible venting (via the APEX modules), narrow nozzle. My favorite has been the U4s, although there are times that the Volur has been a fun ride. However, I have long had my eye on a U12t and I jumped at the chance to acquire the special edition U12Ti. As a material, I'm a fan of titanium so this released seemed like a sign that the time had come.

Considered a classic, the U12t has been reviewed extensively. I will say that it is one of the most revealing IEM I have ever owned. It has the overall sound signature of the U4s that I appreciate, but I hear much more detail and texture. I can more clearly make out details like the scrape of a finger or tap of toe. To be sure, those sounds are present in the U4s, but they are more easily discernable with the U12t. And not in an intrusive, noisy way, but rather one that pulls you into the venue or recording studio where the recording was captured.

That said, I'm not writing this review as Yet Another U12t review, but rather about what stands out to me with the Special Edition U12Ti.

The most obvious distinguishing feature of the U12Ti is the use of titanium for the body of the IEM. I mentioned earlier that I'm a fan of the material. It has a warmer, darker hue than raw aluminum. A gray that leans just a tiny bit to taupe and it looks beautify in a matte finish with just a subtle amount of polish to bring out the 64 Audio logo in relief. I don’t believe making the enclosure out of titanium itself has any effect on the sound (at least to my ear), but it certainly impacts my comfort. The aluminum body of the U4s feels cold in my ear and it stays that way for quite some time. Titanium has a lower specific heat capacity and conductivity compared to aluminum. I have noticed that the U12Ti comes up to body temperature quickly, which lends itself to more quickly becoming less intrusive and fading below my awareness.

The cabling that comes with the U12Ti is one of the best I have seen included with a 64 Audio IEM. The cable is flexible/supple with no microphonics. The material used for the cable's outer jacket feels premium, unlike the somewhat cheap feeling black vinyl of the U4s cable. The connectors at the ends match the body and seem metallic. I'm not sure if it’s the use of a different supplier or the material used for the connectors, but we do lose the angled connection to the IEMs of their typical cable. It's slightly less ergonomic yet at the same time seems more premium as the old-style connector was molded plastic. It's quite a good cable and will likely continue to use it rather than upgrade it with a 3rd party cable as I have with the U4s and Volur.

Speaking of the cable, they do provide both a 4.4mm balanced cable as well as a SE 3.5mm cable. I was initially taken aback when I found two boxes in my order. I thought that Bloom had erroneously shipped me an additional product and that I would need to arrange to ship it back. However, I discovered that the extra box contained the balanced cable.

Finally, and this is just a tiny detail, the M20 APEX module is a special polished version made of titanium. It's the module that is preinstalled in the IEM (the MX, M12, and M15 are provided in the storage case). I might have this wrong, but I think the other IEMs ship with the M15 installed. This is probably a marketing thing, but I was surprised that at how much I liked the M20 as I prefer the M15 on the U4s and the Volur. It's likely that this is a U12 rather than something specific to the special edition.

So, was it worth it? The U12Ti retails for $500 more than the standard (2025 edition) U12t. Some of the price differential can be just justified by the superior cable, although I'm comparing it to old standard 64 Audio cable whereas the newest U12t also has an upgraded cable which I have not seen in person. The other meaningful differential (for my private taste anyway) is the use of titanium which has a perceptible comfort improvement and an aesthetic I prefer. I'm not sure if that fully justifies $500 but it's enough for me to feel very satisfied with the choice. YMMV
