Cayin RU7 | 1-Bit Resistor Network Portable DACFrom $259.00 |
|---|

RU7 uses a specialized micro-miniaturized 1-Bit DAC with the power of a standard 4 channel DAC architecture. The array of 128 high precision Thin Film Resistors closely resembles the discrete DAC used in the Cayin N7 DAP.
Dual amplifiers in parallel provide high output balanced power. The two amplifiers operate in parallel to provide 160mW @ 32 ohms in single-ended output and 400mW @ 32 ohms for the balanced output.
The 1-Bit DAC design is very demanding of the input signal, and we recommend that you provide the maximum possible digital output volume from your mobile device to get the best signal from RU7. Cayin's specially developed low noise, low power consumption 100 step volume control offers precise control over a wide volume range to power a range of sensitive and harder to drive IEMs and headphones.
RU7 uses a similar design to its predecessor, RU6, with two 6 layer PCB boards, separating digital and analog functions of the device. The two layers safeguard signal integrity and keep noise from the reference clock and DSP from bleeding into the amplification circuit.
Discrete resistor network DACs have low power consumption compared to other integrated DAC designs, and minimize power drain from the mobile source. Combine the DAC design with a carefully designed amplification circuit and RU7 manages a low 100mA power drain. This enables compatibility with:
Android based devices
RU7 includes a supple handmade leather case custom made to fit the device. Included with the case are two discreet magnets with adhesive that you can use to attach RU7 securely to your car, phone, or anywhere else that you use it regularly.

I'm blown away by the quality of this little dongle. It perhaps even surpasses my Schiit Midgard/Modius stack. Genuinely amazed. It pairs so well with the Monarch MKIII.
Great bang for your buck, plenty of power, super solid technical abilities, and the LO function is sweet addition. Separation, layering, overall resolution and soundstage size are the best I’ve heard of its competitors and I’ve owned or heard quick a few. Its form factor is small and light, and the included case and cable are of high quality. Cayin never disappoints. Recommended!
Would give this 10 stars if I could. I’ve lived with it for a week or so now, and after getting the 4.4 2pin Meze Alba cable for said Albas(also from Bloom Audio team!) yesterday, it’s hard to put into words how impressed I am with this dongle. It was already the best sounding dongle I’d heard to date from the 3.5 output. I’d prefer this over anything I’ve heard for portable audio. I love my Mojo 2, it’s just not that practical for otg. This is incredible, to get this kind of sound from something so small. It’s obviously jam packed with some of the best tech without a mm to spare. It can even be connected to my Bluesound Node Nano from usb out and used as a desktop dac Line Out to my preamp! Or you could connect it to a headphone amp, powered speakers, powered amplifier, you name it. I’m just blown away. I don’t have to sacrifice any sound quality for otg anymore, I’m finding myself using it more than anything, it’s so convenient and versatile. Great service from Bloom again!
I work in the IEM space and purchased the RU7 for demo purposes to use in front of customers to audition demonstration IEM headsets. I needed something that could be easy to use, great sound and USB C compatible so it could be used with iPhone or Android devices. It's super easy to use the display is great and sound is as advertised. Most of the devices I use with are in the 30-75 Ohm range and, the RU7 drives them very well. It cannot compete with my SP3000 but at a fraction of the cost it performs very well.
