High-End Tube Sound

Tube Boxes have been an integral part of Pro-Ject's product portfolio for years. The new Tube Box DS3 B adds balanced in/outs to the beloved tube amplification. This precision tube phono preamplifier benefits from outstanding circuit technology from Dr. Sykora and uses ultimate components.

Cartridge Loading Options

You can connect two turntables at the same time & easily set everything on the front plate. Each input setting is stored in memory. Large ranges from 40dB up to 65dB are possible. You can perfectly match it with a wide variety of cartridges and integrate it into the rest of your HiFi system, matching the volume levels accurately to other sources like CD players or streaming devices. Load impedance can be set continuously via potentiometer, a system invented by Pro-Ject Audio Systems. It allows you to seamlessly adjust the impedance during playback and immediately assess the impact of different load options. This is necessary to find just the right load impedance for your cartridge. No other manufacturer implements this feature in this precise and extreme manner.

Balanced Signal Transmission

Connect your turntable either with the 5-pin mini XLR cable or standard XLR cables and profit from a balanced signal transmission. Symmetrical (a.k.a. balanced) transmissions consist of a hot and a cold (+ and -) signal. Both signal chains effectively carry the same musical information. The Tube Box DS3 B can extract the final musical information out of the +/- signals and remove all noise that was potentially added along the transmission. All components including tube output and polypropylene capacitors are audiophile grade and guarantee a breathtaking sound experience.

Excellent Phono Stage

I have the Rega P6 with an Exact II MM cartridge that was connected to a Parasound Halo Integrated Amp. The amp has both MM and MC stage but the MC does not have enough gain for an upgrade to the Ania Pro MC cart.

I purchased the Pro-Ject Tube Box DS3 B from Bloom Audio after doing many hours of research. The online experience was fluid and my unit arrived in a timely manner and was well packaged. Also, what made the purchase sweeter was I caught their sell price of $799!

I found the unit to be very impressive. The build quality, functionality and sound of the tube box is top shelf. Soundstage is extraordinary wide-vertical (3D) with excellent separation of instruments and vocals. The tubes do add a touch of warmth with the midrange so well defined but at the same time evenly blended with the lower and upper frequencies. I later replaced the stock tubes with 7308 RTC Mullards and heard a huge uptick of 3D goodness, airiness and fluidity which allowed this unit to reach its full potential. The stock tubes are decent but would recommend rolling to your favorite tube.

Even though my Parasound phono stage is pretty darn good, the DS3 B Tube Box is on another level. Extremely happy with my purchase!
