Sensitivity solved

The iEMatch+ gives you two sensitivity settings:

    High – for high sensitivity headphones (reduces gain by 12dB)
    Ultra – for ultra sensitivity headphones (reduces gain by 24dB)

We suggest trying both to see which listening level works best with your headphones and your listening preferences.

The minZ™ cable construction is a custom helix design. It is minimised in both capacitance and inductance.

The minZ™ helix construction also provides intrinsic shielding and protects the cable from RFI and EMI noise.

This ensures the cleanest possible transfer medium.

Balanced or Single-Ended? iEMatch+ automatically converts to give you the best listening experience using the 3.5 TRRS-Balanced headphone jack.

There is no need to switch to SE to use a single-ended headphone with a TRS (3-connection) plug. The conversion to single-ended is automatic. The switch can be set to BAL or SE with no ill effect.

If using a balanced headphone with the TRRS connection, leave the switch on BAL. If you discover a channel is missing, please switch to SE as your music source only supports single-ended operation.

If using a headphone with a microphone, please switch to SE. The microphone will be disabled.

The iEMatch+ uses premium components throughout.

Does what it promises, in a wonderful way

I fully trust my low-impedance IEMs to this iFi gadget. And sure enough, it functions perfectly each time with high-output source devices. For instance, a 'Pirate Audio' Raspberry Pi headphone Amp and DAC that drives even my Beyerdynamic 300ohm DT 1990 Pros to excessive heights will be tamed suitably and safely for 6 ohm IEMs. Most often I find myself using the lesser impedance filter, giving me room to spare. Build quality is great and Bloom Audio great to work with, as always.

iFi iEMatch+ eliminates hiss

The iEMatch+ eliminates hiss and makes more of the volume slider useable by sensitive IEMs. The 3.5mm female jack socket is a bit loose though.

A versatile little adapter!

This is a nice little product. It’s really good for IEM/headphones that are highly sensitive (really low impedence) or for amps (amp/dacs) with non-linear volume controls.

Having said that, I bought the iFi Uno amp/dac which has a very non-linear volume control and it makes using my Thieaudio Legacy 4 IEMs (9.5 ohm of impedence) very tricky. At, say, the 9 o’clock position - very little volume. At 10 o’clock, slight volume increase. At 10:30, BOOM! - instant deafness! :-) With higher impedence devices, it isn’t quite as dramatic but it’s still either all or nothing. The iFi IEMatch+ assures that the user will have a much greater range of volume adjustment to find the perfect level.

The iFi IEMatch+ is also pretty effective at attenuating really bright or sibilant IEM/headphones which means it also should easily drop any background noise well below the threshold of human hearing. Having said this, you can also buy the Match if you simply want to have a smoother and less fatiguing sonic signature. Attenuating the frequencies down by -12db (in ‘High’ setting) can allow for a greater volume input without introducing (audible) harshness and distortion. However, the ‘Ultra’ setting (-24db) is quite low and I can’t think of an IEM that can take advantage of that, which is not to say there aren’t any. Maybe the next version of the Match can have attenuations of -6db and -12db, which could work better when you need some reduction and times where you need a little more.

Overall, the IEMatch+ is highly recommended, whether you need to tame highly sensitive IEM/headphones or just want a warmer, richer sound.
