Had to send the first one back since would not connect. Second one is working much better so far. The unit is compact. Sounds good but the software is quirky.
All of the places I usually buy audio were backordered on this product. I clicked on your website and was immediately messaged that you had it physically in stock. 18 hours later, it was on my desk. With a thank you note. AND A CANDY BAR. The most exceptional customer service and online purchasing experience I have had.
The IFI Zen Stream is outstanding! It punches waaay above it's weight (cringe audiophile douchespeak cliché, but it's true). Replaced a brand new Bluesound node. Soundstage, detail, holographic imaging, everything just a little better. If you don't need an internal DAC and use the OS of your streaming service, this is your piece of gear. Can't beat it under $1k.
Very easy to setup and the it helps provide incredible sonics
Using it in a dedicated headphone listening station have it in wireless streaming mode to a NUC Rock running ROON. Have to put a bit of effort to get everything dialed in and operating at it's peak. My equipment consists HiFiman Anada balanced into a Burson Soloist 3xp and the DAC being used is a Schitt Bifrost II all running in Balanced configuration. This to my ears is a very well balanced system can listen for many hours on end with Zero fatigue.
I appreciate separate concerns - specific components that do one thing and one thing well. The iFi Zen Stream is exactly that. Rather than bundle a DAC or even an Amp, the Stream just grabs your digital content. I use mine with a Topping DAC, which then feeds my power amp. The Stream connected to my local Wifi without a hitch and its default settings work seamlessly with Spotify. No complaints whatsoever!
