Large Dynamic Driver

The FiiO FT1 features a newly developed second-generation 60mm large dynamic driver, meticulously designed for FiiO's first closed-back headphone. Its larger-than-average driver size enhances energy conversion efficiency and provides a solid foundation for potent bass. Additionally, the increased driver size results in low low-frequency resonance points, allowing for deeper bass, dynamic sound, and an overall authoritative sound.

Nanowood Fiber Composite Diaphragm

The FiiO's diaphragm primarily consists of carefully selected wood fibers, based on 90-year-old spruce wood from Northern Europe. This wood is a top-grade raw material for musical instruments and fiber products, known for its clear sound and natural tone. Spruce wood undergoes a series of processes, including soaking, cooking, and beating, to create specific wood pulp. To meet acoustic toughness requirements, a precise proportion of carbon fiber material is added.

To fully unleash the acoustic performance of the nanowood fibers, light PU material with high internal resistance is utilized for the suspension gasket, improving diaphragm compliance. This process strengthens the density of the vocals from the source of the sound, resulting in warm, lush vocals.

Art of Sound

The FiiO FT1, in alignment with its overall acoustic design and high-level listening experience, employs a nanowood fiber composite diaphragm. It exhibits excellent high-frequency extension and transient response, resulting in clean, precise sound with clear imaging tone, and providing unique, sweet, high-density mid-frequency vocals. This driver works in harmony with the FT1's other acoustic design elements for a specifically-tuned frequency response for a pure and pleasant sonic experience.

Innovative W-Shaped Suspension Gasket

As the first closed-back over-ear headphones from FiiO, FT1 pioneers a new generation of in-house acoustic technology, the W-shaped suspension gasket. The 25mm diameter voice coil is larger compared to similar models and has been specifically tuned. Compared to typical similarly sized diaphragms, the W-shaped diaphragm achieves a 25.8% increase in effective vibrating area, allowing it to store more energy reserves.

The FT1's diaphragm, with a hard dome and compliant suspension gasket, allows the 25mm large diameter voice coil to directly drive the stiffer dome region. This setup minimizes vibration losses between different materials and reduces distortion caused by driver breakup, allowing the FT1 to deliver refined sound.

Japanese CCAW Voice Coil

To ensure robust and high-quality sound, the FiiO FT1 utilizes a specially imported Japanese ultra-fine CCAW (Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire) voice coil with a diameter of up to 25mm. A longer voice coil copper wire can directly enhance transducer efficiency and drive capacity, improving transient response and resulting in purer sound.

Each individual wire core in the CCAW coil has a diameter of approximately 0.035mm, as thin as a hair. Additionally, the voice coil frame employs lightweight Caption, which helps to significantly reduce the overall diaphragm mass. The result is enhanced response speed and minimized reverberation.

Additional Features

Up to -26dB of Sound Isolation
The FT1 incorporates a series of sound insulation components to effectively reduce ambient noise, including external voices and environmental sounds by up to -26 dB. Whether you are commuting, editing recordings, working in an office or gaming, the FT1 allows you to immerse yourself in a high-fidelity audio work.

U-Shaped Sound Damping Tube
The U-shaped sound damping tube enhances passive noise attenuation, but also allows sound energy to pass through a specific length and angle of the flute, increasing air viscosity and reducing cavity resonance frequency. This further enhances bass extension. You'll distinctly feel the air movement and the focused power of drums and strings.

Conical Baffle Plate
FiiO's development team designed a conical baffle plate based on the characteristics of the FT1 dynamic drivers. This device allows the entire driver to be positioned parallel to the human ear, breaking up sound convergence and avoiding standing waves. As a result, there is minimal high-frequency attenuation for true HiFi audio quality.

High-Sensitivity Design
The FT1 features a low impedance design of 32Ω and boast acoustic sensitivity metrics of 113dB/Vrms@1kHz. This significantly reduces the demand for driving power, allowing you to effortlessly enjoy excellent sound quality.

Ergonomic, Lightweight Headband
The 3-axis headband allows for free rotation at multiple angles. This design accommodates various head sizes and ensures a snug fit for enhanced comfort.

High-Quality Silver-Plated Copper Cables
The FT1 comes with two headphone cables terminated in 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced plugs. Both cables are made using a silver-plated oxygen-free copper base, with 392 wires and 24AWG thickness.

Great headphones for most music

I’m no audiophile as I cannot hear ultrasounds from whales…… with that being said, these headphones are phenomenal for the asking price. If you have a good or great source of music, you will understand what I mean. Good clean punchy bass, trebles aren’t too harsh or overwhelming, mid range accuracy and sounds good overall with all genres of music. Sound is subjective like anything else….. fast shipping! Product came with 2 sets of wires and a carrying case. You can’t even get a free fast food upgrade nowadays. This headphone is definitely an upgrade, especially when paired with a great budget DAC/amp like JDS Labs.

Like better than open backed for studio recording!

First pair of closed backs that I prefer over open backed for studio recording. At first, they looked like the old Koss clunkers that felt like you're wearing bricks off of your ears. But after watching reviews, I decided to try a pair, and I was not only shocked at how well they fit and sounded, but I also immediately bought a second pair. Bloom Audio was very responsive at getting the first pair I bought to me quickly. For the second pair I bought however, I had to look elsewhere since they didn't carry the Beech Wood pair I was looking for. If you're looking for phones with great testing results and phones that wear well and sound great look no further. AND the price is shocking as well in a pleasant way. You won't regret it. Only gripe is the cable isn't long enough. For musicians and studio engineers, you'll need an extension.

A genuine bargain

I purchased the FT1 after making an earlier purchase from Bloom Audio. The manufacturer of that component never bothered to return my emails when I wrote of an issue while it was still under warranty.

The good folks at Bloom took care of the problem when the manufacturer would not.

Now, that is customer service!

On to the FT1....

If you are in the market for an affordable, high performing, and enjoyable closed back headphone, the FT1 is made for you.

I purchased mine because I needed, rather than wanted, a closed back headphone. Well-tuned open back headphones are a dime a dozen, but finding well-tuned closed backs is so much harder. So many are designed to reveal flaws in recordings--see the Sony MDR-7506.

My goal when listening is to lose myself in the music. I don't want to think that the area around 6k might be a little hot, but rather just enjoy the music.

It is a fine balancing point between being analytical and being forgiving. The FT1 manages this extremely well. It is detailed enough to catch your attention, but not in a negative way.

The bass is quite good. In the ideal, there would be a hair more definition in the bass, but it is thoroughly enjoyable and well balanced with the rest of the spectrum. There is no bleed into the mids. This is not a bass-head set, but can be EQed if need be.

The mids are just slightly recessed, but they are generally smooth. As they near the treble, there is a little excess energy that might bother people with sensitivities in the transitional region.

That said, I would count myself among them and find the FT1's upper midrange/lower treble to be in the safe zone and the headphone an easy listen for hours.

The treble is somewhat tame, but there is a little peak around 5k that brings out details.

The treble sensitive will do well with this headphone. It is not at all dull, but it is not bright. Treble heads need not apply.

Soundstage and image are better than I expected out of a closed back.

That is actually the story of this headphone. I have heard enough internet hype not to get myself worked up about it. I'd read a few reviews that described them as "shouty" and they had me concerned.

Honestly, I figured that if they were half-way decent I would be happy as they would serve the purpose of not annoying my significant other like the Sennheisers that might as well be mini speakers.

Instead, I find that I like the FT1s as much as my Senns. They do not have the same signature in any way, but they are just as musical.

Playing them, I find myself thinking "I wonder how _____________ would sound?"

Nice.

Great Sounding Headphones

Quite surprised by the sound quality of these headphones at this price point. They sound better than some of my higher price cans, Great highs and mids and just the right amount of bass.
Hearing things clearer I don't hear in other headphones.
