**DISCONTINUED: The Canton Reference K Series is sold out and discontinued. Check out Canton's latest successor Reference 5 2023. |
The Reference 5K relies on the same features and technical configuration as the Reference 3K, but differs in that it has a modified appearance with an even slimmer cabinet and smaller overall dimensions. With a height of 43", it is nevertheless a very impressive floorstanding loudspeaker, with top-quality technology and the very finest Canton sound. The noble surface finish is sheer intoxicating, making the well-proportioned Canton Reference 5K an eye-catcher in any living environment. In the slim 3-way speakers, the two ceramic tungsten bass drivers provide unleashed dynamics and enormous low bass. However, thanks to the low-loss wave surrounds that clamp the midrange and woofer and the superbly resolving ceramic tweeter, the Reference 5Ks also impress with their excellent fine dynamics at low volumes. The acoustically optimized enclosures with the curved side walls and rounded edges provide ideal radiation characteristics.
Canton develops and manufactures the loudspeaker systems of the Reference K Series in their factory in Weilrod in the Taunus region of Germany. This is the only way to maintain necessary quality standards, minimize tolerances, eliminate defects, and keep the high sound requirements for their top products. The Reference 5K cabinets are made of high-quality, multi-layer laminate and undergo a complex finishing process: the high-gloss "Piano Finish" surface sealant is applied, sanded and elaborately polished in 12 work steps. It gives the Reference 5K cabinet an overwhelming depth effect.
As an alternative, Canton offers the Reference 5K in an even more refined and visually truly impressive variant: the cabinets in cherry real wood veneer with "Piano Finish" are pure craftsmanship and inspire with their lively grain and warm color tone. Acoustically optimized fabric covers, which elegantly hold on the baffle by magnetic fastening, round off the noble appearance sovereign.
The Reference 5K benefits immensely in terms of sound from the solid, multi-stiffened cabinets made of multilayer laminate, which keep sound-reducing resonances away from the loudspeaker drivers used. In the low and midrange, Canton used their most technically advanced drivers, taking advantage of the excellent material properties of aluminum-ceramic cones refined with tungsten particles, and all with very low weight and extended frequency range. The excellent 1" dome tweeter with aluminum oxide ceramic diaphragm is used in the high frequency range.
Sound-optimized crossover components and the highly effective base design with Bass Guide ensure the highest possible fidelity. The Reference 5K is equipped with a high-quality biwiring/ biamping connection terminal, allowing the low and mid-high ranges to be driven separately with different amplifiers or with specialized cables. 24 carat gold-plated, stable screw terminals with a capacity for cable cross-sections of up to 10 mm2, ensure optimum signal transmission. The levels for the midrange and treble can be finely adjusted at the connection terminal, depending on personal preferences or room acoustic conditions.
