I was shopping for a portable DAC/Amp and had this on my short list along with the Chord Hugo 2, Enleum HPA23R, the Cayin C9. The Xduoo was the most versatile of them all. It also performs on par with the flagships I mentioned once I upgraded to the Sparkos Op amp and switched to the ROHM DAC. I have no regrets.
Versatile, solid, awesome audio piece! I enjoy it with every single headphone I throw at it.
Was looking for something that would properly drive my Sony IER-Z1r IEMs and the Xduoo Xd05 Pro did not disappoint. Very wide soundstage, great sound for a portable (semi portable) device. I have several DAPs including a Fiio M17 which is huge, a bit bulky and of course not light weight. So the Xduoo XD05 Pro did not surprise me. However the sound did. I love great bass slam, especially acoustic bass, but I also enjoy an electronic bass with it's Grint and texture. The XD05 pro again does not disappoint and is able to deliver it in spades. Not muddy or bloated, but tight, controlled and refined. Midrange and top end are also great, but remember sound is very subjective as I write this review.
I bought it to couple my Sony NW-WM1a2 via the 4.4mm output into the XD05 Pro Balance or 4.4mm input. to boost the signal in order to drive my IEMs or a set of Cans, and was not using to use the DAC input. But since they came with a USB to USB cable and adapter I have found myself using that over the previous preference. I wish they made a case for it (perhaps coming) and I wish I could get a case where I can put both and leave them connected. It cannot match my ML 519 in resolving power, but for $800 this is really a great unit and I am proud to travel with it. So much so I have retired my IfI, Fiio Q5 and a few other portable headphone amps for this one.
I have looked at the Xduoo products before but was not impressed and concerned about low quality and short reliability. However this unit (in my mind) is a game changer. I am sure other manufacturers are watching and taking note. If not they should.
