Bloom's Take A well-constructed IEM with a neutral-leaning tuning, MoonDrop’s Blessing 3 is an excellent performer for the price. It’s also crazy popular among MoonDrop’s loyal fan base which can often lead to cries of being “over-hyped.” However, we feel the Blessing 3 is the quintessential example of what’s possible in a $300 IEM. In the box, you get the 3D-printed resin IEMs, Silver-plated Copper cable, a leatherette case, eartips, and an aviation adapter. Blessing 3’s sound is largely neutral with a controlled bass boost, compliments of the Horizontally Opposed driver system (HODDDUS.) The stand-out among its peers though is its strong technical performance offering excellent detail retrieval and resolution. While there isn’t a ton of native depth to the imaging, it scales nicely in that regard with the right source. Blessing 3 captures the adaptability that comes from solid execution of a specific target tuning. And with the technical performance you get from MoonDrop’s superb engineering, the Blessing 3 is a great all-arounder and easily one of the best IEMs under $500. |
Blessing 3: Next Gen Iconic Hybrid Earphone
The OG Blessing achieved global recognition thanks to its reasonable price, innovative acoustic design and excellent performance. Its successor, Blessing 2, built on this success with reference sound quality, impeccable details and all-round improved hardware performance, overturning the hybrid headphone rankings and attaining the status of a benchmark product. After more than 3 years of constant development and tuning, the long-awaited successor of Blessing 2 is here: Blessing 3.
2DD + 4BA Hybrid Triple-Frequency Division
Blessing 3 continues the physical frequency division framework of previous versions through the use of state-of-the-art 3D printing. It utilizes a new driver design that delivers higher dynamic range and lower nonlinear distortion. Continuity and smoothness of the mid-highs has been optimized, ensuring ultra-high detail. Combined with a brand-new bass module, the result is a full-bodied and authentically natural sound quality.
H.O.D.D.D.U.S.
The new Horizontally-Opposed Double Dynamic Driver module demonstrates the advantages of the hybrid earphone in bass dynamics. H.O.D.D.D.U.S. uses dual 10mm dynamic drivers arranged closely and symmetrically using 3D-printed modular components. They form a physical band-pass filter comprising of two independent filtering structures and damping devices, thereby facilitating acoustic adjustment.
The maximum SPL of Blessing 3 is double that of the previous model, and the diaphragm stroke under the same SPL is less than half, significantly improving the sound quality of low frequencies. Energy conversion efficiency is also improved along with reduced nonlinear distortion thanks to H.O.D.D.D.U.S. And finally, smooth and natural timbre is achieved through the use of the flexible suspension diaphragm which minimizes resonance.
High-Precision 3D-Printing
As in previous versions, frequency division in Blessing 3 is performed in part by a physical filter consisting of a compact and efficient 3D-printed acoustic structure. This design has yielded a doubling of the parameters and accuracy of the Blessing 2, with even better acoustic indices.
Strategic Cooperation with Leading 3D-Printers
Compared to the physical filtering structure of Blessing 2, the structural complexity of the innovative H.O.D.D.D.U.S. module adopted by Blessing 3 presented significant challenges in the manufacturing accuracy and reliability of 3D printing.
Moondrop has established a long-term strategic relationship with HeyGears, a leading 3D printing supplier. By upgrading and improving its high-precision DLP-3D printing technology and equipment, they are constantly adapting to the increasingly stringent requirements of manufacturing accuracy and stability, making possible high-volume production of the Blessing 3.
