Our Take |
The new HE400se features HIFIMAN's unique "stealth magnet" design that reduce wave diffraction turbulence and lowers distortion to barely audible levels. The updated International Edition also includes a cable with a look, feel, and performance that improves on previous iterations.
Unlike the sound waves created by a conventional magnet, the special shape of Stealth Magnets enables the waves to pass through the magnets without generating interference.
HIFIMAN's advanced magnet design is acoustically transparent, dramatically reducing wave diffraction turbulence that degrades the integrity of the sound waves. The reduced distortion yields pure sonic output that is accurate and full-range.
Thanks to its newly designed adjustable lightweight headband, the HE400se remains cool and comfortable for hours, even in excessively warm weather.
The headphones drivers are protected by a newly designed casing for enhanced durability and protection from the elements.

I have several headphones including Sennheiser HD58 Jubilee Sennheiser HD 600 and Grado SR80e and Philips Fidelio X2/27 and these sounds better to me than all of them and great detail. For $109 I doubt you can find a better headphone. Also the older HE400se had a cable that people said was crappy but they replaced the old silver flimsy cable with a better cable.
More detailed and more enjoyable than my Grado 125e and Sennheiser 600 with Cardas wiring.
Previous headphones/headset were a gaming/ham radio headset that was great for those purposes, but left something to be desired for music. The HE400se headphones sound detailed, transparent and natural when coupled with a Schiit Hel 2 DAC/amp. Even gaming sounds better!
