THIEAUDIO, a "used-to-be" nameless group of DIY enthusiasts who are now one of the best acclaimed IEM brands in the world, has announced HYPE, their new Hybrid Performance line of next-gen IEMs. They've been paying close attention to each of their projects, striving to improve upon each development and learning what it means to create better sounding solutions that customers crave. The Hype 4, the 2nd release in the series, is a hybrid IEM featuring (x2) 10mm composite diaphragm Dynamic drivers and (x4) of the latest Sonion Balanced Armatures. Latest Gen Sonion Driver

The Hype 4 features the latest generation Sonion Drivers custom implemented specifically for the Hype 4. The Sonion E50 series “Hummingbird” is a dual ultra-tweeter BA driver featuring the best technical specifications from any treble drivers offered by Sonion thus far. With superb ultra-treble extension that rivals EST or Planars, along with lower driver vibration and harmonic distortion at higher outputs, the E50 series is one of the most robust treble drivers tested.

Furthermore, Thieaudio has selected the updated Sonion 26A series driver for the mids. Dual stacking of this driver provides excellent output-to-THD ratios for a higher perceived audio resolution, texture and layer in your midrange and treble. The implementation of the 26A series driver provides excellent tonal balance, particularly in the fundamental midrange, as well as lower trebles, with a near-perfect match to Thie's target curvatures. The combination of the 26A with the E50 drivers is one of their most exciting and efficient balanced armature utilizations so far.

Introducing IMPACT²

The IMPACT² (Impact Squared) is Thieaudio's latest technological innovation to change the personalized audio industry. IMPACT² is a new subwoofer solution consisting of two 10mm composite diaphragm drivers arranged in an isobaric design. The addition of another 10mm subwoofer significantly enhances the power and texture of the bass, while the in-house isobaric chamber design keeps the frequency and pressure constant. This means better quality bass without sacrificing tonal integrity.

Classic THIEAUDIO Tonal Perfection

Following the foundation of preceding models, the Hype 4 required a tonal signature that was nothing less than perfect. Using the blueprint from the Monarch MKII, Clairvoyance, and the Oracle, the Hype 4 features Thie's most successful tonal balance. With a strong sub-bass presence that cuts off precisely at 200Hz, a ruler-flat midrange, near-perfect pinna curvature at 3kHz, and a mild gradual decay until 20kHz, the Hype 4 is the perfect studio setup. Discerning audiences will appreciate the clean separation from the bass and the mids, allowing sub-bass impacts to be even more precise and the mids to remain neutral as-intended by studio engineers. Bloom audio is a pretty good seller, they always sell with signature for delivery, but were quick to respond to my request for no signature and were also quick to ship the product. If you need assistance, they are also quick to respond in emails. Overall, it's a great seller. I'd definitely buy more from them, since they are based in the USA they are quicker than most other alternatives if they have the audio product yoy want.

This sounds very similar to the xenns top if you want a cheaper alternative. I'd say the top is more fun the bass is more impacting and rumble. But in general they are similar in bass and mids, the top is supposed to be more treble extended and stronger but I'd say this hype 4 can be more treble focused due to more controlled bass rumble depends on the song. The top can maybe bring more "resolution" to songs but it's very close and I doubt it's worth the extra money for most people.

Thieaudio continues to deliver

The Hype 4 is my fourth Thieaudio IEM experience and I am very pleased with it. The IMPACT² system combined with the 4 balanced armatures deliver an overall balanced sound signature with excellent imaging and clarity.

I couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of the Hype4’s and the service from Bloom. All of the “hype” around the 4’s is deserved-super high quality, comfortable and an excellent sound profile. Worth every penny!!

More than just hype

My expectations for the hype 4 were pretty high as it’s gotten a fair amount of praise, and It’s the first Thieaudio set I’ve owned. It comes with minimal accessories, but the cable, case, and tips are high quality. I chose the black color and it’s beautiful. The fit is excellent. They’re not overly large.

Imaging and stage depth are highlights for me. There’s a good bit of sparkle up top, and I got very little sibilance. Detail retrieval for the price is also quite good. I liked the bass a lot. It has texture, and impact with minimal bloat. At times I wish kick drums were a little more prominent, but the cleanliness and separation make up for it. A number of my other sets are warmer with better midbass weight, but fall behind in other areas as result. It’s just a very enjoyable tuning that I immediately liked. I’ll definitely be grabbing more Thieaudio sets in the future
